Cllr. Ollie Crowe Intends to Contest the Next General Election

“Cllr. Ollie Crowe Intends To Contest The Next General Election.”

Following my successful re-election to Galway City Council in May I am humbled and honoured every day by the support and goodwill I have received from the people of Galway. I continue to work to ensure that the City Council delivers on its obligations to the people of Galway through a wide array of public services, funding and supports.

With over a decade of Public Representation experience to call on and the support of my Fianna Fáil colleagues on Galway City Council it is my intention to contest the next General Election for Fianna Fáil in the Galway West – South Mayo Constituency. I ask for the support of all Fianna Fáil Members right across the City and County at the upcoming Convention.

Galway City and her communities face enormous challenges as we enter a new decade and, if elected, I will ensure that our City’s Economic, Social and Cultural interests are represented vigorously at national level. The challenges before us are many, they are varied and most of them are relatively new to us as a City and, as people living and working here in the West of Ireland.

If I am elected to Dáil Éireann I will work hard in Government to identify, qualify and build consensus for initiatives and solutions that will facilitate sustainable growth and development for the people of Galway City and County. With so many issues to address it is vital to prioritise and my personal mantra is ‘Putting People First’. The housing crisis is unprecedented, homelessness in Galway is at a staggering level, transport chaos prevails, the health service is on its knees and the current Government continues to plough seemingly unlimited capital funding into ballooning blackholes without any semblance of accountability.

I have built strong relationships over many years as I have always been an avid supporter of Sporting Organisations in Galway through my involvement with numerous Clubs for many years. I have assisted numerous sporting bodies in obtaining Sports Capital Grants as I believe contributions from these bodies’ to our local communities are simply beyond measure.

Galway demands the strongest representation in Dáil Éireann and it is imperative that we are heard. Most importantly we require funding to build, develop and grow. Under the current Government the gap between Galway and other large cities is widening and I am certain that attracting jobs through investment in our Services and Infrastructure coupled with Foreign Direct Investment will go a long way to enabling sustainable growth and development in the region.

We urgently need; realistic short-term Transport Solutions; Social and Affordable Housing for our people; the downgrading of Galway Port to be reversed; Medical Services and Elderly Care Facilities to be properly resourced and managed and expanded Broadband Services to enable a new generation of mobile and remote workers.

We need a great deal of very attainable goals, therefore it is essential that we have strong representation in Dáil Éireann combined with the determination and willpower to get the job done.

I was heavily involved in previous General Elections, campaigning and promoting Candidates from which I have gained valuable experience.

I believe I have the track record, experience and tenacity to represent Galway West – South Mayo in Dáil Éireann, and I ask for your support at the next General Election.

Cllr. Ollie Crowe.
