Fianna Fáil General Election Candidate for Galway West, Cllr. Ollie Crowe, says he has secured a commitment from Galway City Council to tackle illegal parking at Disabled Parking Bays.
Cllr. Crowe said, “I am delighted that my motion calling on our council to tackle illegal parking in disabled parking bays passed on Monday night with unanimous support.
“Abusing a disabled parking bay, even if for only a few minutes, is illegal and incredibly disrespectful to those who require these parking spaces. It is a selfish act, taking away a parking space from someone with unique needs who requires a disabled parking space.
“Our city should be a welcoming one. That includes for those with disabilities who should feel confident that they can find an available disabled parking space if they wish.
“I will continue to put pressure on the transport and infrastructure section in Galway City Council to prioritise improvements that are urgently required,” concluded Cllr. Crowe.
